DRIVER CHARGED WITH IMPAIRED AND OTHER OFFENCES

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On July 8, 2017 at approximately 11:30 p.m. Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers were conducting patrol on County Road 109 in the area of Concession 4, Township of Wellington North.

Officer observed a dark green Ford Ranger traveling eastbound on County 109 at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was locked on radar at 146 km/h in an 80 km/h zone. Police stopped the vehicle and spoke with the driver.

While speaking with the driver the officer observed signs of alcohol consumption. He was arrested and brought to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

46-year-old Shannon LOSIER of Stoney Creek has been charged with Over 80 and Impaired Driving. He was also charged with Fail to Comply with Probation Order contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute. LOSIER was also charged with Driving while under suspension and Race a motor vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act (HTA). He is to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on August 8, 2017 to answer to the charges.

RACING CHARGE

(TOWNSHIP OF WELLINGTON NORTH, ON) - On Sunday July 9, 2017 at approximately 6:30 p.m., a Wellington County OPP officer was monitoring traffic on Highway 6, Wellington North. The officer observed a male driving a 2003 Chevrolet travelling at a speed that appeared to be well above the posted speed limit. The vehicle was locked on radar in excess of 140 km/h in an 80 km/h zone.

18-year-old Gregory Paul James HARE of Guelph has been charged with Race a Motor Vehicle contrary to the Highway Traffic Act and will appear in Guelph Provincial Court on Aug 16, 2017. His driver's licence and vehicle were seized for a period of seven days as per statute.

WARRANT EXECUTED, GROW-OP SHUT DOWN

(TOWNSHIP OF Wellington north, ON) - in the early hours of Friday July 7, 2017, members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) executed a search warrant at a rural residence on Wellington road 16 near Damascus. As a result, OPP seized a quantity of drugs, weapons and drug production and trafficking equipment resulting in charges for two men. The estimated street value of the drugs seized is over $100,000.

58-year-old Lawrence Jesse (Larry) JOHNSON of Arthur Township was arrested and held for bail. He is charged with:
Production of Cannabis Marijuana contrary to the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (C.D.S.A.)
Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the C.D.S.A.
Possession of Cannabis Resin contrary to the C.D.S.A.
Possession of a Weapon contrary to the Criminal Code (C.C.)
Failing to Comply with a Recognizance of a Justice contrary to the C.C.
Failing to Comply with an Undertaking contrary to the C.C.

A warrant has been issued for David Andrew WESTRA 59-year-old of Sundridge. He is charged with:
Production of Cannabis Marijuana contrary to the C.D.S.A.
Possession of Marijuana for the Purpose of Trafficking contrary to the C.D.S.A.
