(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - On March 11, 2017, at approximately 2:00 a.m. members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a call for an assault in progress at the Macs Convenience Store in Harriston, Town of Minto.

An officer arrived on scene and observed a male assaulting the male victim. The officer was able to subdue the man and bring him under control for an arrest.

57-year-old Joseph SADLER of Harriston has been charged with Assault and Utter Threats to Cause Death/Bodily Harm contrary to the Criminal Code. He was released on a Promise to Appear and is scheduled to appear April 28, 2017 in Guelph Criminal Court to answer to the charges.



(TOWN OF MINTO, ON) - On March 9, 2017 at approximately 8:53 p.m., members of the Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) investigated a male party found sleeping at the wheel of an Audi A4 on Main St. Palmerston in the Town of Minto.

While speaking with the driver, police formed a strong suspicion that he had consumed alcohol. A Roadside Screening Device test was conducted which resulted in a fail. The male driver was placed under arrest and transported to a local OPP Operations Centre for further testing.

47-year-old Alan CAVE of Southgate Twp. has been charged with Care or Control Over 80 mgs. contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada. He is scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on April 11, 2017 to answer to his charge.

His driver's licence has been suspended for 90 days and the vehicle impounded for a period of seven days as per statute.



(WELLINGTON NORTH TOWNSHIP, ON) - On March 7, 2017 at approx. 8 am., Wellington County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Officers responded to a report of a Break/Enter to the business of Nostalgic Wood in the Town of Mount Forest. OPP attended the business and reviewed evidence of a suspect entering the shop and taking several items with him when he left.

Officers were able to identify the suspect and later locate him at his residence. The suspect was located with other items stolen from an earlier B&E from the Canadian Tire store located in the Town of Mount Forest.

35-year-old Gordon KOSTAL of Mount Forest is charged with;
* Break and Enter - Criminal Code (C.C.)
* Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 X 2- C.C.

KOSTAL was held for bail and scheduled to appear in Guelph Criminal Court on 8 March 2017.
